Port Dickson, or ‘PD’ in short, is a beach and holiday destination in Negeri Sembilan. Situated a mere 32km from Seremban and 60km from Kuala Lumpur, its close proximity makes it a favourite weekend retreat to the locals, especially those who want to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

PD was originally a small village where charcoal was made and was called ‘Arang’ by the locals. During the British settlement in the 1880s, it was claimed that one of the leading officials, Sir Frederick Dickson was the one who developed the place into a small port. Hence the name Port Dickson.

PD has an 18 km beachfront that extends from Tanjung Gemuk in the north to Tanjung Tuan in the south. Along the coastal road, the sandy beaches are lined with tall casuarina trees, coconut palms and the spreading branches of Banyan trees.

“Pesta Port Dickson” is an annual festival held on August that could easily draw in crowds from all over the country with its various activities and cultural events. It would be one great time to visit PD's beaches especially its most famous picnic spot which is the Blue Lagoon near Cape Rachado.

Cited as one of the most popular holiday destinations in Malaysia, it is no wonder that PD provides quite an array of international class hotels, fully furnished apartments and budget accommodation to choose from. Visitors or tourists can easily have access to a complete menu of leisure activities that is available in Port Dickson through the reception in their hotel.
